MMA institutes AD's Honor Roll

In an effort to recognize Massachusetts Maritime Academy athletes who are also stars in the classroom, director of athletics Bob Corradi and his staff have created the inaugural Athletic Director's Honor Roll, in which 72 Buccaneers were selected for 2008.
To be eligible for MMA Honor Roll, student-athletes must achieve a 3.00 grade-point average during the recently completed semester.
"We are extremely proud of the role intercollegiate athletics plays in the overall education of our students at Massachusetts Maritime, and I am very pleased to recognize and congratulate those student-athletes on this achievement," Corradi said. "Their selection is a tribute to their hard work both in the classroom and in athletic competition throughout the year."
MMA honorees for the spring were Sarkis Nahigian (North Falmouth) and Tyler Spofford in baseball; Matthew Ahearn, Conor Benoit (Eastham), Christopher Duarte, Jason Ellershaw, Kevin McClelland, Taylor Peterson (Falmouth) and Robert Seeley in men's crew; Rebecca Edgerly, Shauna Erickson-Conran, Dolores Maldonado, Holly McLaughlin and Michelle Pare in women's crew; John Herman, Dan O'Brien, Nicholas Sacco and Kevin Schultz in men's lacrosse; Colleen Fissette and Cali Longtin in softball; Brian Reske and Anthony Venterosa in men's track & field; and Erika Berube in women's track & field.
Fall award winners included Kyle Ingersoll and Jesse Milton in men's cross country; Yarmouthport native Emily Burbank in women's cross country; and Kyle Audette, Jeff Bossart, Mike Dangoia, William Hafferty (Sandwich), Jarad Horey, Joe Loughry, Timothy Murphy, Joshua Roberts, Charles Sykes, James Tenaglia (Marstons Mills), Maxwell Whitney and Andrew Wilkins in football.
Other fall honorees included Michael Surette in men's rifle; Junita Goldman in women's rifle; Brendan Doherty, Gavan Dunleavy, Rob Fritzen, Rob Gallagher (Sandwich), Jeffrey Gawrys, Philip Johnson, Michael Kostigen, Andrew Melamet, Mitchell Menard, Patrick Morrissey, Eric Pattison, Jason Pollock (Cataumet), Michael Powers, Patrick Ryan (Brewster), Bradley Shepherd, James Sjolund (Nantucket) and Ryan Spirito in men's sailing; and Alison Dombrowski, Bailey Gingras, Charlotte Huson, Kathryn Maynard and Julie Shebroe in women's sailing; Chris Corr, Matt Duggan, James Gendrolis, Kevin McCord, Brian Reske, Sean Szczesny and Jonathan White in men's soccer; Marissa Cap, Colleen Fissette, Cali Longtin, Nicole Newell and Amanda Zarella in women's soccer; and Allison Condino in women's volleyball.
