Over 100 Student-Athletes Named To Massachusetts Maritime Fall 2011 Athletic Director's Honor Roll
Buzzards Bay, Mass. -- The Massachusetts Maritime Academy Department of Athletics today announced its Fall 2011 Athletic Director’s Honor Roll for the recently completed Fall 2011 semester, as 103 Buccaneer student-athletes (the second highest number in school history) were recognized for their performances in the classroom, a total that represents nearly 30 percent of the total student-athlete population at the Academy. To be eligible for selection to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll, student-athletes must have achieved a 3.00 grade point average during the recently completed semester of matriculation.
Sophomore football placekicker Brandon Rodrigues (Brockton, Mass./Brockton) and freshman men’s crew standout Michael Singleton (Middletown, R.I./Portsmouth) were two of 10 Massachusetts Maritime cadets to achieve a perfect 4.00 grade point average during the Fall 2011 semester, as Rodrigues sports a perfect 4.00 cumulative GPA in his three semesters at the Academy.
“We are extremely proud of the role intercollegiate athletics plays in the overall education of our students at Massachusetts Maritime, and I am very pleased to recognize and congratulate those student-athletes on this achievement,” Buccaneer Director of Athletics Bob Corradi says of the Fall 2011 Athletic Director’s Honor Roll. “Their selection is a tribute to their hard work both in the classroom and in athletic competition throughout the year.”
