Mike Kelley, a former football and baseball captain at Milford High and Massachusetts Maritime Academy, has been chosen for induction to Mass. Maritime's Athletic Hall of Fame.

Kelley, son of Framingham State College head football coach and athletic director Tom Kelley and older brother of Framingham State assistant football coach Pat Kelley, will be honored June 6 at the school.

An all-conference selection in football and baseball at Mass. Maritime, Kelley holds the football career record for receptions (121 catches for 1,634 yards), and was an Eastern College Athletic Conference All-Star his sophomore season. On the diamond, he was a two-time Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference pick, leading the team in triples his junior year.

Kelley was the college's Male Athlete of the Year as a senior (class of 1999).

During his senior season at Mass. Maritime, Kelley filled in for the team's injured starting quarterback, and led the Buccaneers to a win in his first start - against Framingham State.

Kelley is assistant director of student services at Mass. Maritime, as well as an assistant football and baseball coach.

"Our family is extremely proud of Mike's induction," said Tom Kelley. "It's always a special day when Mass. Maritime plays Framingham State, but always a tough day for my wife, Jackie, with her boys on opposite sidelines."

When Tom Kelley again took the job of head football coach at Framingham State two seasons ago, Mike Kelley found himself coaching against his father and brother. Mass. Maritime won in 2007 and Framingham State last fall.

"No matter what the outcome," said Mike Kelley, "it's a family reunion. . . . Football is a bond within our family."
