  • Bucs Place 79 on All-Academic, Five for Fourth Time
    July 12, 2018
    The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Association announced its Spring All-Academic Team, and a whopping 79 Buccaneer athletes were listed. In total, cadets from eight sports were honored, with at least four men and four women in each. Men’s lacrosse claimed the most honorees, as 17 players were tabbed for the list.
  • Academy to Host MIAA Semi-Final
    June 13, 2018
    Buccaneer baseball may have finished for the year, but the Academy's Hendy Field has not seen its last post-season game of the year. MMA will host the MIAA Division III South Semi-Final between local high schools Dennis-Yarmouth and Falmouth on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. Parking is available on-site.
  • Hunt, Rouette Honored as 2017-18 Athletes of the Year

    At the annual Massachusetts Maritime Academy’s Senior Student-Athlete Award Night, Stephanie Hunt and Mick Rouette were announced as the 2017-18 Players of the Year after stellar four-year careers for the Buccaneers. Seven other awards were also given out as part of the evening.
  • Slugging Sullo Named D3Baseball All-New England

    As one of the most storied careers in recent Buccaneer baseball comes to an end, the honors keep pouring in for Logan Sullo. The senior catcher was tabbed to the D3Baseball.com All-New England Region Second Team today on the heels of a record-setting 2018 campaign.
  • Field Set for New England DIII Regional, Beacons Headline

    The University of Massachusetts Boston highlights a list of eight universities—including four from New England—that will be fighting for a single spot at the NCAA Division III World Series. The New England Regional, hosted by Massachusetts Maritime Academy and the Cape Cod Chamber of Commerce, drew the tournament champions from seven different conferences, including three teams ranked in the Top 25 nationally.
  • Teehan Is MASCAC Rookie, Four Named All-Conference

    Buccaneer Baseball capped off an exciting 2018 season with a series of awards from the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference, headlined by Rookie of the Year John Teehan. Teehan was joined on the All-Conference First Team by Logan Sullo, while Connor Kennedy and Casey Furnas were tabbed to the MASCAC Second Team.
  • Ashburn and Haley Strong as Bucs’ Season Ends

    For the second playoff game in-a-row, the Massachusetts Maritime Academy baseball team featured strong starting pitching and longball power, but once more, the combination was not enough as the Buccaneers were eliminated from the MASCAC Baseball Championship with a 6-4 loss to Salem State University. The Academy’s IX will conclude their season at 18-15.
  • Teehan Out-Pitched in MASCAC Quarterfinals

    John Teehan and Kyle Hodgson matched zeroes for the first five innings of the MASCAC Baseball Championship Quarterfinal at Massachusetts Maritime Academy, but Framingham State University scored in the final four innings to win 10-1. The Buccaneers are down to their final game of the season in tomorrow’s semifinal matchup with Salem State University.
  • Teehan Again Earns Weekly Honors, Joined by Haley

    John Teehan and Nick Haley earned MASCAC plaudits this week after their performances for Massachusetts Maritime Academy baseball during the week of April 22. The pair of underclassmen were tabbed for the conference’s weekly Honor Roll, the eighth and ninth weekly winners for the Conference Co-Champion Buccaneers.
  • Buccaneers Draw No. 2 Seed in MASCAC Tourney

    The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference announced the bracket for its Baseball Championship, and Massachusetts Maritime Academy will receive a first-round bye before playing its first tournament game at home on Friday. It is the third time that the Bucs won a share of the conference title.
  • Simone Homers Win Hendy Field Grand Re-Opening Thrillers

    Jackson Simone homered on both ends of a thrilling doubleheader, and freshmen Mason Ashburn and John Teehan pitched superb games as Massachusetts Maritime Academy celebrated the Grand Re-Opening of Hendy Field with a pair of 2-1 victories over Worcester State University. The Buccaneers end the regular season in second place to Westfield State University despite identical records.
  • Pre-Game Ceremony to Mark Maritime’s Hendy Field Renovations

    Massachusetts Maritime Academy will celebrate the Grand Re-Opening of the Commodore William R. Hendy Baseball Field on Saturday, April 28, at 11:40 a.m. The diamond’s history already includes three conference championships by the Buccaneers and was the home of the Cape Cod League’s Bourne Braves for a decade. Now featuring a new all-turf surface, Hendy Field is poised to play an even more significant role in south-eastern Massachusetts and Cape Cod baseball as it begins a new chapter.
  • Sullo Sets Maritime Home Run Record in 10-4 Win
    April 26, 2018
    Logan Sullo set the all-time Massachusetts Maritime Academy career home run record as the Buccaneers put on one of their most complete offensive performances of the year in a 10-4 victory over visiting Wentworth Institute of Technology. Brian Kwedor tossed a complete game as the Bucs prepared for the final push for a MASCAC title.
  • Haley’s Game-Winning Homer, Smith’s Shutout Put Bucs in First

    Matt Smith tossed a shutout in game one and Casey Furnas delivered on the offensive end set up Nick Haley, who give the Mass Maritime Academy baseball team a MASCAC sweep of Bridgewater State University with a game-inning home run in the nightcap. The 2-0, 5-3 wins moved the Buccaneers into a tie for first place in the conference with one series remaining. Game One

    John Gegetskas turned in another dominant performance on his way to MASCAC Pitcher of the Year as Westfield State claimed game one of a conference doubleheader before the Buccaneers took a split in the Senior Day MASCAC doubleheader thanks to an unusual walk off play.

    The Framingham State University baseball team belted three homeruns as the Rams swept a MASCAC doubleheader with Massachusetts Maritime Academy by scores of 7-1 and 6-2 this afternoon at Bowditch Field.
  • Thoener, Sances Deliver Game One Win in MASCAC Split

    Six and a third solid innings of relief by Massachusetts Maritime Academy freshman Colin Thoener and a pinch hit single off the bat of junior Paul Sances combined for a twelve inning 4-3 victory for the Buccaneers on Saturday at Commodore Hendy Field in the first of a Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference twinbill with the Trailblazers of the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts. The visitors claimed a 2-1 win in the nightcap behind a solid pitching performance from junior lefthander Bobby New aided by a pair of unearned runs.
  • Offense Stays Cold in Baseball Loss to Suffolk

    Suffolk University’s Tyler Zell looked superb in only his second start for the Rams and Massachusetts’ Maritime Academy baseball never got the bats going in a 3-1 loss to Suffolk. Four freshman pitchers toed the rubber for Head Coach Mike Kelley in the non-conference affair and Billy Keane robbed a home run in the opening frame.
  • Smith’s Ks Fall Short in Fisher Loss

    Massachusetts Maritime Academy’s five-game winning state came to a screeching halt at Fisher College as the Buccaneers lost 14-0 in a non-conference matchup. Matt Smith continued to pile up the strikeouts, but the Falcons’ Zach LeBlanc tossed seven shutout innings as the Bucs dropped to 11-8.
  • Teehan, Furnas Sweep MASCAC Awards

    John Teehan and Casey Furnas helped Massachusetts Maritime Academy baseball to a perfect 3-0 last week and today were rewarded with MASCAC Weekly Honors. Teehan took home Pitcher of the Week and Rookie of the Week, while Furnas was the Player of the Week selection.
  • Teehan Tosses Shutout as Bucs Win Two

    Logan Sullo drove in four runs in game one of a MASCAC doubleheader on Saturday and John Teehan pitched a shutout in the nightcap as Massachusetts Maritime Academy cruised to a 10-3 and 5-0 sweep of Salem State University. The Buccaneers have now won five in-a-row and eight-of-nine as the squad improved to 11-7 and undefeated in the conference.
  • Smith’s Career High in Ks Leads Baseball to Win

    Sophomore Matt Smith delivered his second straight gem on the mound and Buccaneer bats timed their hits well in a 4-1 non-conference victory over visiting Wentworth Institute of Technology. Massachusetts Maritime Academy has now won three in-a-row and 6-of-7 en route to an 8-6 record in 2018.
  • Sullo, Smith Listed on MASCAC Honor Roll

    The Buccaneer baseball team had an excellent four-game run last week and two players, in particular, showed particularly fine form. Thanks to their achievements, Logan Sullo and Matt Smith were listed on the MASCAC Honor Roll, released today.
  • Sullo’s Grand Slam Leads Bucs to MASCAC Sweep

    Logan Sullo’s sixth inning grand slam capped a six-run comeback by Massachusetts Maritime Academy’s baseball team and the Buccaneers swept a doubleheader at Fitchburg State University. The 5-2 and 8-5 victories came in the first MASCAC action of the year for MMA and improved the club’s overall record to 8-7.
  • Haley Hits First Hendy Field Homer in Loss

    After a day of superb pitching on Tuesday, Massachusetts Maritime Academy got off to a good start against Tufts University, but a series of unlucky bloop hits against starter Anthony Rubicine turned into a deluge against eight relievers. The final score read 19-3 in the Jumbos’ favor, but sophomore Nick Haley gave the Buccaneers something to celebrate with an historic four-bagger.
  • Smith Hurls Bucs to Home Opener Victory

    It might have taken six tries, but the first game on Hendy Field’s new turf surface was a memorable one as Matt Smith turned in his best pitching performance of the year to lead Massachusetts Maritime Academy over visiting Becker, 5-0. Billy Keane collected four hits and Connor Kennedy stroked three of his own as the Buccaneers won their third game in-a-row and improved to 6-6.
  • Sullo Homers in Each of Clark Doubleheader Sweep

    Led by Logan Sullo, the Buccaneer bats came alive and freshman southpaw Mason Ashburn pitched superbly in the nightcap as Mass Maritime took two from Clark University. The 11-9 and 7-3 wins improved MMA’s record to 5-6 as the weather has finally improved enough for the season to continue.
  • Weekend Baseball Schedule Changed

    Only Tuesday did we note that four sports suffered schedule alterations due to weather and, with another half a foot deposited on the campus of Massachusetts Maritime Academy on Wednesday, Buccaneers Baseball sees even more changes. The good news is that with sun forecast today and a break from relentless precipitation, baseball should see more regular action.
  • Four Sports, Baseball’s Grand Opening Suffer Postponements

    Buccaneer Athletics have been hit hard by March’s steady stream of nor’easters, with a number of games postponed in the last fortnight. Unfortunately, despite the valiant efforts of the athletics’ staff, most surfaces are still not playable. As a result, we are delaying games in four sports, including the second attempt at the Grand Opening of Hendy Baseball Field.
  • Baseball Drops Two-of-Three as Hendy Field Lies Snowbound

    With a series of latest nor?easters blanketing New England in snow, Mass Maritime has yet to host a home baseball game, with Hendy Field still suffering the effects of last week?s heavy snowfall. As a result, Sunday?s home doubleheader with Dean College was moved to Northboro, Mass.
