Massachusetts Maritime sophomore Michael Surette was recently honored for his work in the classroom in being named to the 2008-09 Mid-Atlantic Conference Rifle All-Academic team in a vote of the league's coaches.

A native of Lynn, Mass. and a graduate of Lynn English High School, Surette sports a 3.72 cumulative grade point average as an Emergency Management major at the Academy, and he also earned a spot on the Fall 2008 Athletic Director's Honor Roll for his accomplishments.

Surette helped lead Head Coach Oliver Deibert's Buccaneers to the Marksman Division Varsity Smallbore team title last month at the 2009 MAC Championships in Lexington, Va.
