Poor weather spoiled Saturday's planned opening day in the McMillan Cup at the United States Naval Academy. Improved weather conditions Sunday brought light winds and sunny skies.

The United State Coast Guard Academy finished the day in first place with the Naval Academy second. The University of Rhode Island claimed third with N.Y Maritime finishing fourth.

The Buccaneers were led by cadets Philip Johnson, Frank Hennigan, Philip Scott, (Bourne, Mass.), Brian Kirkwood, (Poulsbo, WA.), Kevin Dineen, Chris Morrow, (Eugene, OR.) James Sjolund, (Nantucket, Mass). and George Fleischfresser.

The fifth place finish by the Buccaneers qualified MMA for participation in the 2008 Kennedy Cup.
