Women's soccer is on its way to campus.

Massachusetts Maritime Academy Athletic Department is excited to add this pitch for female student-athletes and the new state-of-the-art playing fields.

The fall of 2008 will mark the beginning of women's soccer at MMA. The newest addition to a growing athletic team roster began competition at club level in 2007. In the fall of '08, the team, moving onward and upward, will play varsity matches against other state colleges as a member of the Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference.

Preseason typically begins the last week in August and is open to tryout for both incoming students and upperclassmen. Off season women's soccer will include strength and conditioning programs as well as a five week, non traditional season in the spring.

Christine McCarey, formerly First Assistant for Women's Soccer (and basketball) at Bridgewater State College, will lead the Buccaneers as Head Coach. "I look forward to helping build a strong, female-athlete community, providing team members with a positive playing experience and an enriched, four-year college experience. Along with hard-working, committed, players, I envision a program rich in pride and tradition," said Coach McCarey.
