Coach Ashley Lorance Takes Over MMA Volleyball
One of the first female athletes at Silver Lake Regional High School to become a tri-varsity captain for the volleyball, softball and basketball teams, Coach Ashley Lorance has always been an athlete. Her passion as a player has led her to continue involving health and fitness into her everyday life.
While pursuing a double major B.S. in Exercise and Sport Sciences: Sport Management and Business Administration at Colby-Sawyer College in New London, New Hampshire, Coach Lorance and her team claimed two Commonwealth Coast Conference Championships; they were two-time visitors to the NCAA Championships and visited the ECAC’ Tournament once. Lorance played four season of volleyball, leaving campus as a record holder in almost every blocking category and the top in seven different blocking profiles. Lorance also played one season of basketball at Colby-Sawyer.
Consistently fusing her love for fitness and wellbeing, Coach Lorance, works as a ZUMBA Fitness Instructor, Fitness Consultant at KoKo Fit Club in Pembroke, and works as part of the management team at Lululemon Athletica in Hingham. As part of her position at Lululemon Athletica, Coach Lorance has performed goal coaching and planned community events with her team.
Coach Lorance has been featured on the Travel Channel while working as a member of the Sports Staff aboard Royal Caribbean International’s, Freedom of the Seas. As part of her experiences Coach Lorance gave surf lessons, instruction on rock climbing, ran sport competitions and wave runner tours.
Coach Lorance lives in Pembroke with her family. She aspires to rebuild the volleyball team at Massachusetts Maritime Academy to become one of the premier teams in the MASCAC conference. She has always been a leader with her own teams, believing sports lay the foundation for social, mental and physical strength and development. Lorance’s focus for the 2008 season is to use her passion and knowledge of the sport of volleyball to bring the MMA program to a new level.
