Massachusetts Maritime opened its Northern schedule last weekend by sweeping a pair of non-league twinbills from Rivier (14-6, 11-0) on Saturday and Lyndon State (9-3, 13-0) at Commodore Hendy Field, as Head Coach Bob Corradi's Bucs rapped out 47 hits and scored 47 runs in 24 innings of work. Sophomore Brad Musk (Dania, Fla.) batted .545 with six hits and four RBI on the weekend for the hosts, while fellow sophomore Ross Hickey (Centerville, Mass.) led the way at the plate for Massachusetts Maritime with a .625 batting average that included a pair of extra base hits, four RBI and a 1.000 slugging percentage. Freshman Jared Lowe (Brimfield, Mass.) impressed on the mound for the Bucs by tossing a complete-game one-hit shutout in his first collegiate start in Saturday's nightcap against Rivier, as he earned a spot on this week's MASCAC weekly honor roll for his efforts, while junior David Hike (Riverview, Fla.) allowed just one hit and fanned 10 in five innings of work in Sunday's nightcap triumph against Lyndon State. Sophomore Corey Murphy (East Wareham, Mass.) struck out a career-high 12 in Saturday's opener against the Raiders, while junior Matthew O'Brien (Swampscott, Mass.) and sophomore Nick Levitre (Grafton, Mass.) combined for a win and save in Sunday's opener against the Hornets. Massachusetts Maritime, 4-3 overall on the young season, continues a six-game homestand Wednesday afternoon by hosting Eastern Nazarene in a non-league outing at Commodore Hendy Field beginning at 3:00 p.m. EDT.

Sophomore Jake Bickley's (Wilbraham, Mass.) goal with 8:39 remaining proved to be the game-winner and lifted Massachusetts Maritime to a 10-9 non-league college men's lacrosse victory over UMass Dartmouth Monday afternoon at Cressy Field in North Dartmouth, Mass. Bickley converted a feed from junior Connor Burke (Del Mar, Calif.) on the deciding tally for Head Coach Barry Joyce's Buccaneers in a contest that saw seven lead changes and six ties. Massachusetts Maritime overcame an early 3-1 deficit to take a 5-4 advantage at the break, and the Bucs built a 9-7 third quarter lead on the strength of two goals each by Connor Burke and his junior brother Brian (Del Mar, Calif.), as the latter's marker with 6:31 to play in the third stanza accounted for the two goal difference. Brian Burke notched six goals in the triumph for Massachusetts Maritime, while Connor Burke finished with a pair of markers and four assists for six points as well. Freshman Kyle Lersch (Suffolk, Va.) added the other tally of the day for the Buccaneers, who also received an assist off the stick of senior John Herman (Stamford, Conn.). Junior James Hitchings (Dover, Mass.) picked up his second win in goal for Massachusetts Maritime with a 10-save effort as the Buccaneers outshot the Corsairs by a 34-33 margin. Massachusetts Maritime, 2-1 overall on the young season, heads to Throggs Neck, N.Y. this evening for a non-league match with New York Maritime in a battle for the inaugural "Maritime Cup" that begins at 7:00 p.m. EDT.
