Bio
Coach Mike Kelley has served as head coach of the Massachusetts Maritime baseball program since 2016, following 10 seasons as an assistant under legendary coach Bob Corradi. A native of Milford, Mass., Kelley guided his alma mater to 24 victories in his first season—the third-highest single-season win total in school history—and led the Buccaneers to their first-ever MASCAC championship game appearance, as well as a second straight trip to the ECAC New England semifinals.
During his tenure as head coach, Kelley has coached 32 All-Conference selections and, as an assistant coach, helped Massachusetts Maritime capture its first MASCAC championship in 33 years (2015). He continued that success as head coach, guiding Logan Sullo ’18 to his second consecutive MASCAC Player of the Year award.
A standout student-athlete at Massachusetts Maritime, Kelley was a two-time all-MASCAC performer in baseball, batting .400 as a senior in 1999 while serving as team captain and earning Male Athlete of the Year honors. He finished his career with a .346 batting average and team MVP recognition, and was inducted into the Academy’s Athletic Hall of Fame in 2009. Kelley also excelled on the football field, ranking third all-time in career receiving yards.
Kelley serves full-time as the Academy’s Director of Athletics and has been an assistant to Buccaneer head football coach Jeremy Cameron since 2005. He resides in Bourne, MA, with his wife Tammy and their sons, Ty and Drew. His father, Tom Kelley, is the longtime Director of Athletics and former head football coach at Framingham State University.
