BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. -- Junior Maura McLaughlin (West Roxbury, Mass.) registered six kills to lead Westfield State to a 3-0 Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference volleyball victory over Massachusetts Maritime by game scores of 25-14, 25-8 and 25-9 in a league match played Monday evening at the Clean Harbors Athletic Center.
Senior Stephanie Bartkus (North Merrick, N.Y.) and junior Rachel Ryan (Westboro, Mass.) posted four kills each for the visiting Owls (12-8, 3-0 MASCAC), who also received 19 set assists from sophomore Kerin DeGirolamo (North Attleboro, Mass.).
Sophomore Samantha Foley (Forestdale, Mass.) notched four kills and three digs in the setback for the host Buccaneers (0-13, 0-4 MASCAC), who also received three kills each from junior Victoria Presutti (Marshfield, Mass.) and freshman Suzanne Marino (Kings Park, N.Y.).
Massachusetts Maritime hosts Framingham State in a MASCAC outing on Wednesday evening at the Clean Harbors Athletic Center beginning at 6:00 p.m., while Westfield State travels to Springfield, Mass. on Friday afternoon to take on host Springfield in opening round play of the Tom Hay Invitational that begins at 5:00 p.m.
