Cabral, Bouchard Pace Rifle In MAC Dual Match Setback To MIT

FALMOUTH, Mass. --  The Massachusetts Maritime rifle team dropped a 4356-3844 Mid-Atlantic Conference dual-match decision to MIT on Saturday afternoon at the Massachusetts Military Reservation, as the visiting Engineers claimed a 2140-1841 triumph in smallbore competition while holding a 2216-2003 edge in air.

Sophomore Matthew Cabral (Acushnet, Mass.) paced the host Buccaneers in smallbore with a score of 476 points, while junior Christopher Bouchard (Fall River, Mass.) and sophomore Mason Fortier (Somerset, Mass.) followed with scores of 465 and 464 points, respectively.  Freshman Mitchell MacEachern (West Palm Beach, Fla.) rounded out Massachusetts Maritime’s smallbore results with a score of 436 points.

Bouchard led the way in air competition for the Buccaneers with a score of 530 points, while Fortier followed with 513 points.  MacEachern was next with 492 points in air, while freshman Diana Kurek (Stamford, Conn.) rounded out the competition with a score of 468 points.

Massachusetts Maritime returns to action on Saturday, November 19th when the Buccaneers travel to New London, Conn. to take on Coast Guard, SUNY Maritime and John Jay in Mid-Atlantic Conference competition beginning at 9:00 a.m.
