WESTFIELD, Mass -- Wednesday afternoon, the Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference announced its 2025 football postseason awards, and Buccaneers junior linebacker Jackson Mahoney was selected as the conference's Defensive Player of the Year.

Mahoney earned first-team All-MASCAC honors in 2024 and capped off his junior season with Defensive Player of the Year and a second consecutive first-team selection. 

This season, Mahoney made a team-high 92 tackles, which was second-best in the MASCAC. He added four sacks, second on the Buccaneers, seven tackles for loss, tops on the team, forced two fumbles, recovered one fumble, had an interception, and broke up four passes.

Mahoney is a Marine Engineering major from Falmouth, Massachusetts.
