WESTFIELD, Mass -- The Buccaneers went out to Westfield on Friday evening to take on the Owls in the first conference match of the season for both teams. A 39th minute goal for Westfield State proved to be the game winner and they added insurance in the 86th minute to win the game 2-0.

How It Happened
After a scoreless first 38 minutes of the match, the Owls broke through the Buccaneers defense and opened the scoring on Otero's goal from Anischik in the 39 minute. Westfield kept the 1-0 lead until half time.
In the second half, the Bucs tried all they could to tie the game at 1-1 but were unable to despite eight shots in the second 45. Late in the game, in the 86th minute, Viana finished the conference game off with a goal of his own to make it 2-0. The Owls went on to win in the conference opener, 2-0, over Maritime.
