Buccaneers Win Fourth Conference Game with Victory in Vermont

CASTLETON, VT -- Maritime men's lacrosse traveled to Vermont on Saturday to play Castleton in conference play. The Bucs won handily in the Green Mountain State, 27-3.

Inside The Numbers

Maritime

  • James Sullivan scored five times in the win, leading all scorers. 16 Different players scored for Maritime in the win.
  • Quinn Mucha notched four assists in the win. Daniel Kane added three helpers.

  • Defensively, three players caused one turnover each in the loss.
  • In total, Castleton picked up 10 ground balls, was successful on 16 of 28 clearances, won nine of 33 faceoffs, and took 27 total shots in the game.

 

How It Happened

Maritime dominated the scoring with eight goals in the first quarter and six in the second, all unanswered. Maritime led 14-0 at the half.

In the second half, the Bucs extended their scoring run to 19 unanswered, getting five goals in the opening five minutes of the quarter. Castleton scored their first at 3:39 remaining in the third, and the Bucs scored once more to lead 20-1 heading to the fourth. 

The Buccaneers opened the fourth with four goals in the first four minutes. Castleton scored their first of the quarter with 7:34 left to play to make the score 24-2. The Buccaneers scored two more to make it 26-2 before the Spartans got a third goal. With just under four minutes left in the game, the Bucs scored one more to finish off the game, winning 27-3.

Maritime plays its final non-conference game of the season on Wednesday, April 15th, against Salve Regina at home at 7 pm.
