Bucs Historic Season Comes to and End in NCAA Second Round
WELLESLEY, Mass -- The Buccaneers men's lacrosse team traveled to Babson College to take on the Beavers in the second round of the NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship Tournament. Coming off a first-round win over Husson on Wednesday, the Bucs had their work cut out for them against a tough Babson squad. At the end of 60 minutes, the Maritime magic came to an end with a final of 26-8 in favor of the Beavers.

How It Happened
Babson scored first 47 seconds into the game to take a 1-0 lead. The Bucs tied the game at 1-1 on Kane's first goal of the game. Unfortunately, that was Maritime's only goal of the quarter, and the Beavers went on to score nine more in the first 15 minutes. Babson led 10-1 after one quarter of play.
Sullivan scored first in the second, 31 seconds into the period, to bring the score to 10-2. Babson scored back-to-back to extend the lead to 10 goals, 12-2. Vricella scored his goal at 11:31 to make it a 12-3 contest, followed by back-to-back goals again from Babson. At 4:29, Kane scored his second to get back within 10, 14-4. The Beavers scored at 3:15 and with one second left in the half to take a 16-4 lead heading to the break.
Babson opened the second half with three goals to make the score 19-4. Kane scored his third at 9:37 to make it 19-5. Over the final 8:32 of the third, Babson scored six times and led 25-5 heading to the fourth quarter.
In the fourth, the Buccaneers outscored their hosts 3-1. Sullivan scored all three goals for Maritime, and Babson got one more goal with 2:50 left in regulation. The lead was insurmountable for the Buccaneers, and they fell in the second round, 26-8, bringing their historic season to an end.
