NORTH DARTMOUTH, Mass -- Maritime track and field opened its 2026 season on Saturday at UMass Dartmouth in the Corsair Classic. The Buccaneer women performed well with multiple top 10 finishes.

In the women's 10,000-meter race, Danielle Danna finished in second place with a time of 45:33.35. Behind Danna in fourth place in the event, Chloe Handlin finished with a time of 49:26.42.

Lorelei Lee competed in the 3000-meter steeplechase and finished sixth overall at 14:11.07. 

In the women's hammer throw, Sydney Sawyer finished in 20th place in a large field with a best throw of 26.11 meters. Makynzi Sprague was 25th in the hammer with a best throw of 21.26 meters.

Sprague also finished top 25, 22nd overall, in the shot put with a best mark of 8.58 meters.

The Buccaneers' next meet is at Fitchburg State on Saturday, April 4th, in the Jim Sheehan Invitational
