How It Happened
Colby-Sawyer outshot the Buccaneers in the first half, 8-4, with neither team able to find the back of the net. The Buccaneers had a Karah Deveau breakaway that was squandered by the Charger defense, and a Santoro shot on target that was handled well. Neither team scored, and the game was tied, 0-0, at halftime.
In the second half, it started with much of the same from both teams. Each is getting into enemy territory before being turned away by the opposing defense. Then, in the 80th minute, on a loose ball across the face of the goal, the Bucs defense saw the ball fall to the foot of Minckler, who slotted it into the bottom left corner to give the Chargers a 1-0 lead. CSC held off the Buccaneers for the final 10 minutes and went back to New Hampshire with the 1-0 win.
