Bucs Open Little East Play with a win over Southern Maine
BUZZARDS BAY, Mass -- Maritime men's lacrosse opened their Little East Conference slate of games on Saturday hosting the University of Southern Maine. The Bucs kept their outstanding start to the 2025 season going with a 17-7 win over the Huskies.

Maritime
- Quinn Mucha led all scorers in the game with five goals. James Sullivan and Ryan McDonough scored three times. Daniel Kane scored twice and Cooper Barrett, Cooper McIntire, Braeden Kosiewicz, and Joe Vricella scored once.
- Kane, Chilton Cabot, and Kosiewicz had two assists. Mucha, Barrett, Sullivan, and McIntire had one helper.

- Owen Gaulrapp had two assists. Andrew James, Coley, and O'Driscoll notched one assist.
- Nick Shevchenko picked up a team-high four ground balls and won 5-of-18 faceoffs he took.
- Defensively, Duncan Hayes and Coley caused two turnovers.
- In total, Southern Maine picked up 19 ground balls, were successful on 20-of-34 clearances, won 6-of-27 faceoffs, and took 27 shots in the loss.
How It Happened
The Bucs got two goals from Kane and one from Mucha, Sullivan, and Kosiewicz in the first quarters while O'Driscoll was the only scorer for the Huskies. The Buccaneers led 5-1 after one.
In the second, Southern Maine outscored the Bucs, 4-3 to cut the deficit to three goals. Mucha opened the scoring in the second quarter with his second. Then, the Huskies scored four unanswered within five minutes to bring the score to 6-5 in favor of the Bucs. Maritime closed out the half with goals from Mucha and Sullivan and led the Huskies at the half, 8-5.
In the third, the Bucs scored three goals unanswered from McDonough, Sullivan, and Mucha and held an 11-5 lead with six minutes left in the third. The Huskies got another from O'Driscoll with 2:38 left in the quarter and Maritime led 11-6 after three.
The Bucs offense took off in the fourth scoring six goals unanswered to go up 17-6. O'Driscoll scored one more time for the Huskies with three minutes to play. Maritime finished off the clock and walked away with their first LEC victory of the 2025 season, 17-7.

The Bucs are home again on Tueday to play Clark University at 7pm at Clean Harbors Stadium.
