Men's Lax #4 Seed in LEC Playoffs with Loss to Panthers
BUZZARDS BAY, Mass -- With the #3 seed in the LEC Playoffs next week on the line, the Buccaneers and Plymouth State Panthers met in the men's lacrosse season finale on Friday night on Taylor's Point. Though the Bucs took an early lead, they found themselves down late in the fourth quarter. Despite their efforts at a comeback, they fell to the Panthers, 13-11, and will be the #4 seed in the Little East Playoffs, hosting Keene State on Tuesday, April 29th at 7 pm.

How It Happened
Renner scored first off the opening faceoff for Plymouth to put the Panthers up 1-0 just 13 seconds into the game. Cabot tied the game at 1-1 at the 13:03 mark of the first quarter, and Maritime proceeded to rattle off four unanswered goals over the next 11 minutes. With 2:07 left in the first, the Bucs were up, 4-1. In the last two minutes of the first quarter, the Panthers scored three times with Renner, Fay, and Jones all scoring to tie the game, 4-4, heading to the second.
The Bucs took the lead early in the second quarter, 5-4, with McDonough's goal. There were only two other goals scored in the second, both by the Panthers, from the sticks of Jones and Renner. At halftime, the Panthers led the Buccaneers, 6-5.
Only three goals were scored in the third quarter, with one from Sullivan for the Bucs at 9:28. The other two came from Renner and Fay at 7:08 and 5:40. Plymouth extended their lead to two goals, 8-6, heading to the fourth.
In the fourth, Plymouth opened the scoring to take a three-goal, 9-6, advantage at 11:12. Mucha then scored for the Bucs at 9:12, and Jones got that goal back for Plymouth at 7:27. With just over seven minutes in regulation, the Panthers were up, 10-7. In the final 5:22 of the game, there were seven goals scored, more than the second and third quarters combined. Hunt scored for Plymouth to put them up four, 11-7. Then, Sullivan and Mucha went back-to-back a minute apart to get within two goals, 11-9. Renner got one back at 3:54 to make it 12-9. Barrett and Sullivan netted goals at 3:19 and then with 23 seconds remaining to make it a one-goal game, 12-11. Maritime lost the next faceoff and the Panthers went down the field and put the cherry on top of the game with O'Loughlin's goal with 11 second left. Plymouth secured the #3 seed in the LEC with a 13-11 win over Maritime.
