Bucs Beat Bears in Comeback Fashion in MASCAC Series Opener
BUZZARDS BAY, Mass -- Coming off of a sweep of MCLA on Monday, the Buccaneers hosted Bridgewater State on Tuesday in conference play. With the Bears coming off of a conference sweep of Fitchburg on Monday, Maritime let up three runs early to Bridgewater. With the Bears scoring one more run down the stretch, the door was open for the Bucs to get back into the ballgame, and they did just that. Thanks to two runs in the bottom of the eighth, Maritime won in comeback fashion over BSU, 5-4.

How It Happened
Flaherty put the Bears up three runs in the top of the first inning with a home run to center field.
The Bears kept their three-run lead until the bottom of the second inning when Estrada grounded into a double play that allowed Velzis to score from third and get Maritime on the board. Bridgewater led 3-1 through two.
After a lack of runs from the third through the fifth inning, Flaherty homered in the top of the sixth to extend the Bears lead back to three runs, 4-1. In the bottom of the sixth, the Buccaneers struck for two runs. The first scored on an RBI hit by Estrada's pitch, and the second on a Logiudice ground out to second, scoring Pietrafesa. Maritime trailed after six, 4-3.
In the bottom of the eighth, with Baiardi cruising on the hill, the Bucs got back-to-back-to-back doubled with two out from Estrada, Logiudice, and Houston. Estrada scored on Logiudice's double to tie the game, 4-4. Then, Logiudice scored on Houston's double down the left field line to give the Buccaneers a 5-4 lead heading to the ninth.
In the top of the ninth, Baiardi got the first hitter to ground out to third. That was followed by a Thornell single and a Prampin ground rule double to left. With one out, the tying run on third and the go-ahead run on second, Baiardi struck out the next two hitters to earn the 5-4 win.

The Buccaneers are off until Friday when they travel to Salem State to take on the Vikings in conference play at 3pm.
