Women's Lax Loses Admiral's Cup game at the Hands of Maine Maritime

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass -- The Buccaneers hosted Maine Maritime on Saturday in their annual Admiral's Cup game in Buzzards Bay looking to snap a two-game losing streak. The Mariners were too stong in the end for the Bucs, taking the Cup back to Castine by a final of 12-4.

Mass. Maritime

  • Brady Deschamps led the team with two goals. Lindsy Durgin and Tessa Hinds had one goal each.

How It Happened

Maine scored the only goals in the first quarter with two from the Stoddard sisters, one from Wade, and a fourth from Diversi. The Mariners held a 4-0 advantage after one quarter of play.

The Mariners kept their goal streak going in the second with two goals in the first two minutes to make it 6-0. The Bucs then went back to back with two goals from Deschamps at 10:27 and eight minutes later at 2:24. The Bucs trailed 6-2 late in the first half. With 25 seconds left in the second, Maine scored one more to take a 7-2 lead into the half.

Just two goals were scored in the third, one from each team. Durgin scored first at 8:17 to pull within four, 7-3, and Hadley Stoddard took the goal back late in the period. Maine led 8-3 after three quarters.

In the fourth, Maine outscored the Bucs 5-1. Three goals came on power plays for the Mariners, two from Hadley Stoddard, one from Hazel and then Diversi scored again to make the score 12-3. At the buzzer of the game, Hinds scored her goal to make the score 12-4, which was also the final.

 

What's Next

The Bucs are on the road for their next game on Tuesday, March 18th at Anna Maria with game time set for 6 pm.
