Levitre, McLaughlin Named To Respective MASCAC Baseball, Softball All-Conference Teams
Buzzards Bay, Mass. -- Two members of the Massachusetts Maritime baseball and softball teams have been recognized for their performances this spring with selection to their respective 2010 Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference all-conference teams as second team utility players.
Junior baseball standout Nick Levitre (Grafton, Mass./Grafton) earned all-MASCAC accolades for a third straight season, as the 2008 Conference Rookie of the Year led Head Coach Bob Corradi’s squad at the plate with a .403 batting average that included a team-leading 31 hits, 17 runs scored and eight extra-base hits to go with a .545 slugging percentage and a .465 on-base percentage. Levitre, a second-team all-league honoree as a pitcher in 2009, also posted a .976 fielding percentage that included 73 put outs and a pair of assists, and he was named to the MASCAC weekly honor roll on three occasions in 2010.
Massachusetts Maritime sophomore softball standout Holly McLaughlin (Belmont, Mass./Belmont) also earned all-MASCAC honors for her performance in her inaugural season on the diamond for Head Coach Ashley Lorance’s Buccaneers, as she batted .375 for the spring and also led the team in hits (24), extra-base hits (eight), RBI (18) and slugging percentage (.531) while playing three different positions and chipping in with 20 put outs and 29 assists in the field. McLaughlin was a three-time selection to the MASCAC weekly honor roll as well for her efforts this season.
