Members of the Massachusetts Maritime Student-Athlete Advisory Committee volunteered their time for a second straight year at the Special Olympics Track & Field event that took place earlier this month in Hyannis, as seven Buccaneers helped present medals and awards to competitors throughout the day.

Under the guidance of SAAC Advisor Linda Letourneau, who serves as the Department’s Senior Woman Administrator and Head Women’s Cross Country Coach, Massachusetts Maritime has been active in Special Olympics events on Cape Cod, as the Buccaneer SAAC is helping to broaden the on-going partnership that NCAA Division III member institutions have established with Special Olympics on a national level.

Among those student-athletes who volunteered at this year’s track & field event were Jennifer March, Chris Gallagher, Melanie Holder, Megan O’Brien, Laura Marin and Rulando Antoine.
