Senior co-captain Colin Teehan (Plymouth, Mass.) hauled in a 28-yard touchdown pass from freshman quarterback Kyle Moon (Wilmington, Mass.) early in the third quarter to stake Massachusetts Maritime to a one-point advantage, but host Maine Maritime scored three times over the final 22 minutes of action to notch a 26-7 victory over the Buccaneers in the 36th annual "Admiral's Cup" contest last Saturday afternoon at Ritchie Field in Castine, Maine. Moon finished with 105 yards through the air to go with his score for Head Coach Jeremy Cameron's squad, while junior Alex Butler (Bourne, Mass.) amassed 112 all-purpose yards on the day. Sophomore Andy Hirko (Uxbridge, Mass.) paced the visitors defensively with a career-high 15 total tackles, including seven solo stops, while freshman Jack Gomes (Acushnet, Mass.) added 13 tackles for Massachusetts Maritime, which begins a two-game homestand on Saturday, October 25th when the Buccaneers host Fitchburg State in a New England Football Conference Bogan Division clash at Commander Ellis Field that kicks off at 2:00 p.m. EDT. Senior Neil Carlson's (Kingston, Mass.) goal with 1:46 remaining in the second overtime lifted Massachusetts Maritime to a wild 4-3 MASCAC victory over Fitchburg State last Saturday afternoon at Commander Ellis Field. Carlson's heroics were set up on feeds by sophomore Kyle Sheehan (Bridgewater, Mass.) and freshman Kevin McCord (Norwell, Mass.), who also netted a pair of goals in the triumph for Head Coach Greg Perry's Buccaneers. Fellow freshman Josh Hoy (Camp Hill, Pa.) tallied and added two assists to finish with four points for the hosts, who also received two assists from freshman Sean Szczesny (Whitman, Mass.) and a single helper from sophomore Rory O'Donnell (Somerset, Mass.). Senior co-captain Tim Meighan (East Bridgewater, Mass.) made eight saves to pick up the win in goal for Massachusetts Maritime, which also collected a 3-2 non-league victory over UMass Dartmouth last Thursday evening at Commander Ellis Field on the strength of Szczesny's game-winner with 7:11 to play as well as tallies by Hoy and sophomore Jon White (Lynnfield, Mass.) and a five-save performance in net by Meighan. The Buccaneers stand one game out of the final MASCAC playoff spot heading into a key match-up on Saturday, October 25th in Worcester, Mass. against Worcester State beginning at Noon EDT. | ||

Freshman Colleen Fissette (Dracut, Mass.) made a career-high 23 saves in goal for Massachusetts Maritime last Saturday evening in an 8-0 MASCAC setback to Fitchburg State at Elliot Field in Fitchburg, Mass. The Buccaneers of Head Coach Christine McCarey return to action on Wednesday, October 22nd in beginning a season-ending three-match homestand by hosting UMass Boston in a non-league contest at Commander Ellis Field beginning at 4:00 p.m. EDT. Massachusetts Maritime will then entertain Worcester State in a MASCAC outing on Saturday, October 25th at Commander Ellis Field that begins at 10:00 a.m. EDT. | ||

Massachusetts Maritime dropped a pair of 3-0 non-league decisions to host Mitchell and the Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts last Saturday afternoon in New London, Conn. Sophomores Victoria Presutti (Marshfield, Mass.) and Liz Kenny (Quincy, Mass.) each notched two kills on the day for the Head Coach Ashley Lorance's Buccaneers, while sophomore Allison Condino (Fitchburg, Mass.) added four set assists for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received two service aces from freshman Stephanie Roberts (Wakefield, R.I.). The Buccaneers resume their first varsity season in two years by heading to Waterville, Maine on Saturday, October 25th to take on host Thomas and Maine Maritime in a non-league tri-match that begins at 1:00 p.m. EDT. | ||

Massachusetts Maritime won the prestigious Strom Trysail Club Intercollegiate Regatta at Larchmont, N.Y. over the Columbus Day Weekend. The Buccaneers of Head Coach Chuck Fontaine won the J-109 Class on Storm owned by Rick Lyall (Class of '78) and a MMA Foundation Trustee. The cadets were second in the J-120 class. The combination of the two scores placed the Bucs in first overall. The Columbus Day Weekend victory was the first for the Buccaneers as they topped a list of 26 schools that included; Army, California Maritime, U.S. Coast Guard Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, Michigan, U.S. Naval Academy, New York Maritime, Tufts and Georgetown. MMA was led by George Fleishresser, Mitchell Menard, Charlie Baum, Rob Fritzen, Frank Hennigan, Ian Fraser, Kevin Deneen, Samuel Sherwood and Brian Kirkwood. The Bucs also had key input from Marc Pottey, Christopher Morrow, Phil Scott, Patrick Ryan, Andrew Devine, George Anderson, Ryan Lotti and Matthew Morrissey. | ||

The Buccaneers fell to John Jay in MAC competition on Saturday, October 11th by a score of 4341-3863 at the MMA Rifle Range. Sophomore Michael Surette (Lynn, Mass.) led Head Coach Oliver Deibert's squad in both the smallbore and air categories, as he finished third overall in smallbore with 526 points and fourth overall in air with 534 points. Junior Kevin Geisel (Gloucester, Mass.) was right behind Surette compiling 513 points in smallbore and 519 in the air rifle competition for Massachusetts Maritime, which returns to action on Saturday, October 25th by heading to State College, Pa. for a MAC match with Penn State. | ||
