Football

Alex Butler


Junior Alex Butler (Bourne, Mass.) rushed for a career-high 217 yards on 31 carries and one touchdown in Massachusetts Maritime's tough 19-17 New England Football Conference Bogan Division setback to Framingham State last Saturday afternoon at Commander Ellis Field.  Butler amassed 229 all-purpose yards on the day for Head Coach Jeremy Cameron's Buccaneers, who also received a four-yard touchdown run from freshman Matt White (Westwood, Mass.) as well as a 27-yard field goal from sophomore Jake Bickley (Wilbraham, Mass.).  The hosts collected 331 yards of total offense on Senior Day and were paced defensively by junior Jim Erlwein (Livingston Manor, N.Y.), who registered 13 total tackles, including 11 solo stops.  Freshman Walter Butler (Bourne, Mass.) added 11 total tackles for Massachusetts Maritime, which closes out the 2008 campaign on Saturday, November 8th by heading up to Bridgewater, Mass. to take on Bridgewater State in the 30th Annual Cranberry Bowl at Swenson Field that kicks off at Noon EST.

Men's Soccer
   
Tim Meighan 

Senior co-captain Tim Meighan (East Bridgewater, Mass.) closed out his collegiate career with a nine-save effort in goal, as Massachusetts Maritime wrapped up the 2008 campaign with a 3-0 MASCAC setback to Bridgewater State last Saturday afternoon at Swenson Field in Bridgewater, Mass.  Head Coach Greg Perry's Buccaneers' doubled their win total of last season, finishing with five triumphs overall this fall with a pair of ties, as Massachusetts Maritime had 10 of its 18 contests decided by one goal.

Colleen Fissette


Freshman Colleen Fissette (Dracut, Mass.) recorded 18 saves in goal for Massachusetts Maritime last Saturday morning, as Head Coach Christine McCarey's Buccaneers wrapped up their inaugural varsity campaign in dropping a 7-0 MASCAC decision to Bridgewater State on Senior Day at Commander Ellis Field.  Massachusetts Maritime posted a pair of victories during its first season of play, as both triumphs came in double overtime against Newbury and Wheelock.

Men's Cross Country


Kyle Ingersoll 


Senior Kyle Ingersoll (Wakefield, Mass.) earned all-Alliance honors for the Massachusetts Maritime men's cross country team last Saturday afternoon, as he recorded a 17th place individual finish at the 2008 New England Alliance Championships hosted by Westfield State at Stanley Park in Westfield, Mass.  Ingersoll, who last week earned all-MASCAC accolades on the same course, covered the 8K layout in a time of 26:44.88 to lead the way for Head Coach Chris Ryan's Buccaneers, who posted a solid seventh place overall team finish that was good for fourth place among MASCAC competitors. Sophomore Patrick Dannaher (Arlington, Va.) and freshman Jonathan Quigley (Braintree, Mass.) were next in 52nd and 53rd place, respectively, with times of 28:14.65 and 28:15.06, while sophomore Paul Matz (Plainville, Mass.) and junior Matthew Sturgis (Cummaquid, Mass.) rounded out the scoring for Massachusetts Maritime by placing 67th and 77th, respectively, with times of 28:45.30 and 29:08.88.  The Buccaneers will travel to Williamstown, Mass. on Saturday, November 15th to compete at the 2008 NCAA Division III New England Regional Championships hosted by Williams.

Women's Cross Country
    
Lauren Fograshy 

Junior Lauren Fograshy (Monson, Mass.) posted the top performance for Massachusetts Maritime last Saturday at the New England Alliance Championships at Stanley Park in Westfield, Mass., as she placed 50th individually with a time of 22:08.36 over the 5K layout. Seniors Emily Rizzo (Milwaukee, Wis.) and Patricia Malagrino (Barrington, R.I.) were next in 58th and 59th place, respectively, for Head Coach Linda Letourneau's Buccaneers with times of 22:32.47 and 22:33.27, while junior Kaitlin O'Donnell (Damascus, Md.) was 92nd overall with a time of 24:40.06.

Rifle    

Junior Kevin Geisel (Gloucester, Mass.) and sophomore Michael Surette (Lynn, Mass.) each posted a score of 529 points, as Massachusetts Maritime dropped a 2102-1972 decision to Wentworth in a MAC match last Sunday afternoon in Braintree, Mass.  Senior Junita Goldman (Oakdale, Conn.) posted a score of 488 points for Head Coach Oliver Deibert's Buccaneers, while freshman Ethan Lowe (Wareham, Mass.) was next with 425 points.  Massachusetts Maritime returns to action on Saturday, November 8th by heading to New London, Conn. to take on Coast Guard in a MAC match that begins at 9:00 a.m. EST.
