LOWELL, Mass. -- The Massachusetts Maritime men's crew team began the 2008-09 portion of its schedule by finishing third in the varsity fours at the UMass Lowell Regatta Saturday afternoon on the Merrimack River.

The Buccaneers posted a time of 6:26.91 in the event, which was won by Middlebury with a time of 6:07.6.

Junior Taylor Peterson (Falmouth, Mass.) was in the stroke seat, while sophomore Jason Ellershaw (Chester, Mass.) was in the 3-seat. Sophomore Eric Fant (Sutton, Mass.) was in the 2-seat for the Bucs, while the bow was junior Christopher Duarte (Seekonk, Mass.). Junior Dolores Maldonado (Belmont, Mass.) was the coxswain for Massachusetts Maritime.

The Buccaneers will compete again on Saturday, April 19th on Lake Quinsigamond in Worcester, Mass. against both Clark and Franklin Pierce.
