Bucs Honored with NEFC All-Division Recognition

The New England Football Conference has named five players from the 2007 Massachusetts Maritime Academy Buccaneers to the All-Division Team.
Leading the list is freshman Ryan Howley (Fairfield, CT.) who was selected as the NEFC 2007 Bogan Division Defensive Rookie of the Year. This season from his linebacker spot Howley had 63.5 tackles and 8 pass break-ups.
The talented freshman also plays on special teams for the Buccaneers. This season he returned 26 punts for 309-yards. He also returned 13 kick-offs for 270-yards for a total of 579-yards.
Joining Howley as NEFC All-Division First Team is sophomore defensive lineman Jim Erlwein (Livingston Manor, N.Y.) Over the 10-game season Erlwein had 50 tackles, 10.5 of which were for a loss.
Senior captain and defensive back Sam Sirrico (Abington, MA.) was selected to the NEFC All-Division Second Team. Sirrico finished the year with 42.5 tackles and two pass interceptions. Joining Sirrico is senior captain and linebacker A.J. Flemmi (Braintree, MA.), who had 67.5 tackles, 10 for a loss; three pass break-ups and an interception.
On the offensive side of the ball senior tackle John Calnan (Lynn, MA.) was selected for the NEFC All-Division Second Team.
The Massachusetts Maritime Academy Buccaneers finished the season at 3-7. The Bucs finished 1-6 in the Bogan Division.
