WORCESTER, Mass.-- Senior quarterback Pat Good (Hull, Mass.) completed 10-of-16 passes for 324 yards and pair of touchdowns as Worcester State notched six unanswered scores en route to a 42-7 victory over Massachusetts Maritime in the New England Football Conference Bogan Division opener for both squads Saturday afternoon at Coughlin Field.

The host Lancers (1-3, 1-0 NEFC Bogan) amassed 509 yards of total offense on the day, as after the visiting Buccaneers (0-4, 0-1 NEFC Bogan) took the opening kickoff and scored on an eight-yard run by freshman quarterback Nick Montalto (South Yarmouth, Mass.) just 3:25 into the contest, Good connected with sophomore Jason Patterson (Attleboro, Mass.) on a 62-yard scoring strike on the ensuing possession to even matters at 7-7. Junior Will Earley (Fitchburg, Mass.) added a pair of two-yard touchdown plunges to extend the hosts' lead to 21-7 at the break, and Good hooked up with junior David Salvi (Bedford, Mass.) on a 67-yard strike on the first possession after intermission to extend Worcester State's edge to 28-7. The Lancers closed out the scoring with a pair of fourth quarter rushing touchdowns, including a 32-yard scamper by freshman Charles Powell (Boston, Mass.) early in the stanza and a 16-yard run by sophomore Aaron McCraine (West Newbury, Mass.) with 3:15 remaining.

Powell and Earley combined for 149 of Worcester State's 185 rushing yards on the afternoon, as Salvi hauled in five receptions for 169 yards to go with his score. Junior Alex Butler (Bourne, Mass.) rushed for 54 yards in the setback for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received 55 yards passing on three completions from freshman Kyle Moon (Wilmington, Mass.), who hooked up on a 38-yard reception with fellow freshman Kyle Rowe (Plymouth, Mass.).

Junior Steve Melville (Merrimac, Mass.) and sophomore Tyler Russell (Princeton, Mass.) each recorded nine total tackles on the day for Worcester State, as Melville added 1 ? sacks to go with a forced fumble and fumble recovery. The Lancers limited the Buccaneers to 152 yards of total offense on the afternoon, including 57 through the air. Junior Jim Erlwein (Livingston Manor, N.Y.) registered seven solo stops and a sack in the setback for Massachusetts Maritime, which also received eight total tackles from junior Nick Stralka (North Kingstown, R.I.) and seven stops from senior Derek Parent (West Springfield, Mass.), who recorded three tackles for losses as well as a sack.

Massachusetts Maritime heads to New London, Conn. next Saturday afternoon to take on Coast Guard in a New England Football Conference Bogan Division match-up that kicks off at 1:30 p.m., while Worcester State travels to Framingham, Mass. next Saturday for an NEFC Bogan Division clash with Framingham State that also begins at 1:30 p.m.
