Buccaneer Men's Lacrosse Donates 40 Pints Of Blood To Benefit Young Patients At Children's Hospital

Members of the Massachusetts Maritime men's lacrosse team have once again demonstrated the true meaning of giving during this holiday season, as for the second straight year the Buccaneers participated in a blood drive to benefit patients at Children's Hospital in Boston that took place on the Academy campus on December 6th.

Head Coach Rory Deegan and 40 members of the Buccaneer program each donated one pint of blood during the drive, which will help up to four children who are being treated at Children's Hospital. In all, 160 young lives will be touched by the selfless acts of Deegan and his student-athletes.

"This is once again such a wonderful reminder to our cadets that they are fortunate to be healthy student-athletes in college doing the things they love," Deegan, who enters his second season at Massachusetts Maritime this spring, says. "It is a great way to impact the community and embodies what pride and teamwork are all about--helping each other."

Over the past two years, the Buccaneer men's lacrosse team has donated over 300 pints of blood during the drive to benefit Children's Hospital.
