BUZZARDS BAY, Mass.-- Junior Armen Billian's (Worcester, Mass.) goal in the 75th minute of play snapped a 1-1 tie and lifted Anna Maria to a 2-1 non-league men's college soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Thursday evening at Commander Ellis Field.

Billian converted a crossing pass from senior Jordan Bartlett (Grafton, Mass.) on the game-winner for the visiting Amcats (2-4), who grabbed a 1-0 advantage just 5:42 before halftime on Bartlett's unassisted marker, his first of the season. Freshman Josh Hoy (Camp Hill, Pa.) evened matters for the host Buccaneers (2-4) 2:51 after intermission by converting a direct kick for his second tally in as many matches, setting up Billian's late heroics. Junior Matt McDonnell (Marshfield, Mass.) had a pair of chances to tie the score in the closing minutes, including a narrowly missed header in the final 45 seconds of play.

Senior Scott Burokas (Auburn, Mass.) picked up the win in goal for Anna Maria with a six-save effort, while senior Tim Meighan (East Bridgewater, Mass.) made three stops in net for Massachusetts Maritime as the Buccaneers outshot the Amcats by a 13-9 margin for the contest.

Massachusetts Maritime opens MASCAC play on Saturday morning by hosting Salem State in a league outing at Commander Ellis Field beginning at 10:00 a.m., while Anna Maria heads to Springfield, Mass. to take on Western New England in a Commonwealth Coast contest at 11:00 a.m.
