NEWTON CENTRE, Mass.-- Sophomore Taiki Otsuka's (Kanagawa-Ken, Japan) scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner with 3:08 remaining, to lift Mount Ida to a 2-1 non-league college men's soccer victory over Massachusetts Maritime Thursday afternoon at Mount Ida Stadium.

The two teams played to a scoreless draw until the 68th minute of action when Otsuka's unassisted marker gave the host Mustangs (1-1-1) a 1-0 lead, but sophomore Brian Reske (Duxbury, Mass.) evened matters for the visiting Buccaneers (0-1) in their season opener by tallying with just under 10 minutes to play, setting up Otsuka's late heroics.

Junior Brian Leighton (Turner, Maine) picked up the win in goal for Mount Ida with one stop on the afternoon, while senior Tim Meighan (East Bridgewater, Mass.) made three saves in net for Massachusetts Maritime as the Mustangs outshot the Buccaneers by a 16-8 margin for the contest.

Massachusetts Maritime heads to New London, Conn. on Saturday afternoon to take on Coast Guard in a non-league match that begins at Noon, while Mount Ida travels to North Dartmouth, Mass. next Tuesday evening for a non-league outing with UMass Dartmouth that begins at 7:00 p.m.
