MMA 9th at Sloop Championships, 12th at Moody Trophy

MMA finished in ninth place at the New England Sloop Championships held over the weekend of April 12 and 13 at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. On Saturday four races were sailed in 3-8 knots from the S-SE. After the lunch break several bands of thunderstorms caused a brief postponement before the fleet went out for an additional three races.

Seven additional races were sailed on Sunday in a breeze ranging from 5-15 knots.

James Sjolund, Phil Johnson and Thomas Aldrich comprised the MMA crew.

The weekend of April 12 and 13 also saw MMA represented at the Moody Trophy competition hosted by the University of Rhode Island. The Buccaneers captured a 12th place in the A Division races and a 12th place overall in the intersectional field of 16 collegiate sailing teams.

George Fleishfresser and Dan Marshall crewed the A Division entry while Mike ustach and And Ali Dombrowski sailed the B Division boat.
