Massachusetts Maritime Academy sailed to a seventh place finish over the weekend of October 25-26 in the Wellehan Trophy held at the University of Southern Maine.

Saturday's opening day racing was held under overcast skies with temperatures in the 50's and a breeze out of the south at 8-12 knots. Fourteen races were completed during the first day of racing.

As the day progressed Sunday, the winds lessened eventually coming out of the south. The wind gradually increased as the racing continued with eight more races being completed.

The MMA Buccaneers finished eighth in the A Division in the boat sailed by Rob Gallagher, (Sandwich, Mass.) and Devin Tetzloff, (Forestdale, Mass).. In the B Division race the boat of Graham Philpot, (Laconia, NH.) and Gavin Dunleavy, (Levittown, PA.) sailed to a fifth place finish.

Bates College won the event followed by Maine Maritime.
