Massachusetts Maritime Volleyball is set to return to action this fall, as first year Head Coach Ashley Lorance takes the helm of an exciting and enthusiastic group of young players determined to make an impression in the highly competitive Massachusetts State College Athletic Conference.

The Buccaneers will open the season with a young squad comprised of six freshmen and four sophomores. Sophomore Elizabeth Kenny (Quincy, Mass./Woodward School) and freshmen Courtney Murray (Marshfield, Mass./Marshfield), Karen Spirito (Eastham, Mass./Nauset Regional) and Elizabeth Buck (South Chatham, Mass./Chatham) will anchor the front line for Lorance at the middle hitter position, while Buck will also slide to the outside hitter spot. Sophomore co-captains Victoria Presutti (Marshfield, Mass./Archbishop Williams) and Christine Egbert (Meadowbrook, Pa./Abington) will join Buck on the outside as well.

Freshmen Leah Burbridge (Hamden, Conn./Hamden) and Stephanie Roberts (Wakefield, R.I./Chariho), along with sophomore Allison Condino (Fitchburg, Mass./Westlake), will open the season as setters, with freshman Samantha Foley (Sandwich, Mass./Sandwich) serving in the opposite hitting role.

Massachusetts Maritime opens the 2008 campaign on Thursday, September 11th when the Buccaneers venture to Boston to take on Suffolk in a non-league match that begins at 7:00 p.m.
