The Massachusetts Maritime volleyball team gained great experience during the 2010 season, as Head Coach Chris Ratches’ Buccaneers captured third place in the First Annual Maritime Classic with a triumph over New York Maritime while continuing to build the program with a mix of talented veterans and newcomers.

Ratches, a former standout student-athlete at the Academy, is looking to continue to build success as she enters her second season of her second stint as Massachusetts Maritime’s head coach this fall, as the 2011 season will feature a 28-match schedule that begins on Friday, September 2^nd with a non-league contest against SUNY-Cobleskill in opening round play of the Elms Blazer Invitational in Chicopee, Mass. beginning at 4:00 p.m.  The Buccaneers open their home slate by hosting Suffolk on Thursday, September 8^th at the Clean Harbors Athletic Center beginning at 7:00 p.m. and will begin MASCAC play on Tuesday, September 13^th with a home match against Framingham State.  Massachusetts Maritime will play nine contests in Buzzards Bay in 2011, including a MASCAC tilt with Salem State on Tuesday, October 18^th.
