Buccaneers Sweep Wildcats in Saturday Matinee
BUZZARDS BAY, Mass -- In the Buccaneers' second doubleheader in as many days, the team took on Bay Path University and, allowing just two runs on the day, swept the Wildcats, 7-1 and 9-1.

How It Happened
After a scoreless first inning, the Buccaneers scored four runs in the bottom of the second inning. The first came in on a wild pitch with Whitman scoring. Kerecz then singled to left center, bringing in Gale and Lemons to make the score 3-0. The fourth run of the inning came on an interesting play in which Kerecz scored on a walk of Burton, where she was caught between first and second after running past first, and Kerecz scored before the third out at second base.
In the top of the third, Bay Path scored their only run when Tessmer grounded out to shortstop and Morrison came in to score. The Bucs led 4-1. The Bucs added one in the bottom of the inning on an RBI single by Whitman with Doherty coming in to score. The Bucs led 5-1 after three.
Maritime went on to score a run in the bottom of the fourth on a single by Burton, her 100th hit, that brought in Lemons. They would score another run in the bottom of the fifth on a Gale single to left that Whitman scored on.
The Bucs led 7-1 after five, and Klemp and the Bucs defense shut down the Wildcats the rest of the way to win game one, 7-1.

How It Happened
In the bottom of the first, the Buccaneers scored four runs. Burton singled in Kerecz, Patane doubled in Burton and Booker, and Whitman drove in Patane to give the Bucs a 4-0 lead after one.
Maritime added a run in the bottom of the second inning. Patane singled and was thrown out at second, allowing Booker to come in to score and make it a 5-0 game.
Bay Path scored its lone run in the top of the third on a Boudreau infield single, bringing in Tessmes. The Bucs led 5-1 after three innings.
In the bottom of the fourth, Lemons singled and proceeded to steal second and third. Then, Lynch knocked her in with a single. Later in the inning, Patane homered, scoring herself, Belbin, and Lynch to put the Bucs up eight runs.
After retiring the side in the top of the fifth, the Bucs won the game by run-rule, 9-1, to sweep the doubleheader.
