Bucs Split Conference Series with AMCATS
PAXTON, Mass -- The Buccaneers traveled to central Mass on Saturday for their first-ever conference doubleheader with new MASCAC member Anna Maria. The Buccaneers earned a split of the games with a 6-1 win in game one and an 11-10 loss in game two.

How It Happened
Maritime opened the scoring in the top of the second inning, taking a 1-0 lead on an infield single from Kerecz that brought in Holler to score.
In the top of the fourth, the Bucs extended their lead to 2-0. Booker reached on a fielder's choice, and Kerecz came in to score. The AMCATS put a run on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning on a McGowan infield single that brought Crossman in to score Anna Maria's only run of the game.
The fifth and sixth innings were scoreless for both teams, and in the top of the seventh, Holler led the inning off with a home run to make the score 3-1. Gale later scored on a passed ball to bring the score to 4-1. Then, Burton hit an infield single, driving in Lemons, and LeBlanc brought in the Bucs final run of the game on an RBI fielder's choice. Klemp retired the AMCATS in the bottom of the seventh, and the Bucs took the win in game one, 6-1.

How It Happened
Maritime struck first in game two, getting two runs in the top of the first inning. The First came on a passed ball that scored Kerecz, and the second on a Holler RBI single to center field.
Down 2-0 in the bottom of the second, Anna Maria got a run back on McGowan's solo home run, making the score 2-1 Bucs.
In the top of the third, Patane drove in a run on a single to left center, and Gale knocked in two on a double down the left field line. The Bucs led, 5-1, heading to the bottom of the third. In the bottom of the third inning, Doyle hit a three-run home run to cut the deficit to one, 5-4.
The Bucs failed to score in the top of the fourth inning, and the AMCATS scored five in the bottom of the inning to take a 9-5 lead.
The hosts added a run in the bottom of the fifth inning on Lovelette's home run, extending the AMCATS lead to five runs, 10-5.
In the top of the sixth, Maritime closed the gap to three runs. Holler walked with the bases loaded to drive in Burton. Then, Doherty grounded out to short, allowing Durham to score from third. The Bucs trailed 10-7.
In the top of the seventh, the comeback was on for the Bucs. Simental scored on a passed ball, and Patane doubled to right center field, bringing in Whitman and Burton to close the gap to one run, 11-10. Anna Maria was able to get the final out, leaving the tying run for the Bucs at second base, and taking a split of the series with an 11-10 win in game two.
What's Next
The Buccaneers are back home on Tuesday, April 7th, to take on Bridgewater State in conference play beginning at 5 pm.
