Buccaneers drop a Pair to the Bears by the Bay
BUZZARDS BAY, Mass -- The Buccaneers softball team hosted Bridgewater State on Tuesday in MASCAC Play. Debuting their new all-white jerseys, the Bucs were unable to pick up a win on the field, losing game one, 8-2, and game two, 5-2.

How It Happened
The Bears scored first in the top of the first inning. Schaefer doubled in Lynch, followed by a Carberry sacrifice fly to bring in Schaefer. When the Bucs came to bat in the bottom of the inning, they answered, getting one run back on a Burton RBI single to score Kerecz. The Bears led 2-1 after one.
In the top of the third, Schaefer grounded out to shortstop, allowing Lynch to score and make the score 3-1 Bridgewater. In the bottom of the frame, the Bucs closed the gap back to one run on a Booker RBI single to right, bringing in Burton. The Bucs trailed 3-2 after three.
Bridgewater scored two runs in the top of the fourth to extend the lead to three runs, 5-2. They went on to add three more runs in the top of the seventh. The Bucs, unable to answer, lost game one, 8-2.

How It Happened
Bridgewater scored first in the top of the first inning on a Carberry would-be home run that drove in one run. Carberry was called out at the plate for team interference on the field, and the Bears took a 1-0 lead in the first.
Bridgewater held that 1-0 lead until the fifth inning when they extended their lead to 4-0. Carberry drove in another run on a double to center field. Then, Becker singled in Ansell to make the score 3-0. Carberry stole home as part of a double steal with Becker, and the Bears went up 4-0 after five.
In the bottom of the sixth inning, the Bucs were able to get on the board twice. Patane singled in Durham, a pinch runner, and Doherty doubled in Lemons later in the inning to cut the deficit to two runs, 4-2.
In the top of the seventh, Bridgewater added an insurance run on an RBI single from Becker to make it a 5-2 game. The Bears kept the Bucs off the board in the bottom of the seventh, and the Buccaneers fell in game two, 5-2.
What's Next
The Bucs are in Worcester to take on the Lancers on Saturday in a conference doubleheader beginning at noon.
