Softball Splits Non-Conference Doubleheader with Regis

WESTON, Mass -- The Buccaneers played a pair of non-conference games against Regis College on Thursday, splitting the games with the Pride. The Bucs took game one in five innings, 14-0, and lost game two by a final of 9-4.

 

Game One

Mairtime

  • Sarah Holler recorded three hits in the win. Reagan KereczHannah BurtonAb'c'de Patane, and Natalie Gale each had two-hit games. Ryleigh Ward added one hit to the tally.
  • Patane and Holler each hit a home run in the game, and Patane added a double. 
  • Patane drove in five runs in the win, and Kerecz drove in three. Holler, Ward, and Gale all drove in two runs.
  • Patane scored three times, and Kerecz, Burton, and Kelsey Booker each scored twice. Holler, Carlee Hiddeman, Ward, Gale, and Mikale Lemons scored once.

Regis

  • Mel Rees and Avery Simpson had the two hits for the Pride. 
  • Simpson stole a base in the loss.

 

How It Happened

Ward gave the Bucs the lead in the top of the second with an RBI single that scored Patane. Later in the inning, Gale knocked in two runs to extend the lead to 3-0. Shortly after, Kerecz singled in Gale, Lemons, and eventually herself on several errors by the Pride, and the Bucs led 5-0. Patane capped off the second inning with a three-run home run to make the score 8-0 Bucs after two innings.

In the fourth, Ward knocked in another run to run the score to 9-0. 

In the top of the fifth, the Bucs put the game away for good, scoring five more runs, thanks to a double by Patane and a Holler home run.

The Bucs went on to win in five innings, 14-0.

  • Hannah Burton recorded two hits in the loss. Kelsey BookerNatalie Gale, and Mikale Lemons each had one hit.
  • Booker, Gale, and Lemons all had a double in the game.

  • Lynsey Kay had two hits in the win. Six other Pride hitters recorded one hit. 
  • Kay hit two triples in the game, and Samantha Kelepouris had a double. 
  • Sydney Grund, Kay, and Mya Gaspie each drove in two runs. Mel Rees, Kelepouris, and Mary DeMerchant drove in one run apiece.
  • Kay and Kelepouris scored two runs each, and five other Regis players came in to score once. 
  • Kay, Kelepouris, and Megan Arruda all had one stolen base.

 

How It Happened

Maritime took an early lead in the top of the first on an RBI double by Booker that scored Burton. The Bucs led 1-0 after one.

In the top of the second, the Buccaneers scored three more runs, two on Pride miscues and one on a double steal of second and home by Burton and Lemons. The Bucs led 4-0 after two. 

Regis came storming back in the bottom of the third when they scored three runs to make the score 4-3 Buccaneers.

In the bottom of the fifth, the Pride scored six times to take the lead by the eventual final score, 9-4.

 

What's Next

The Bucs are back home for a pair of conference games with MCLA on Saturday, beginning at noon. It will also be senior day for the Buccaneers' six seniors.
