Bucs Take a Set in Loss to Blazers

CHICOPEE, Mass -- The Buccaneers traveled to Western Mass on Thursday to play the Elms Blazers. After falling behind after a set, the Bucs took the second game but came up short, losing the third and fourth sets and lost the match, 3-1.

 

The Basics

Final: Blazers 3, Buccaneers 1 (25-17, 20-25, 25-20, 25-22)

Inside The Numbers

Maritime

  • Maliah Servino led the Bucs attack with 14 kills. Natalie Gale added eight kills, and Shayla Narodowg had seven of her own.
  • Madeleine Salinas had a team-high 13 assists, and Narodowg tallied 12.
  • On the serve, Holly Sanders racked up five service aces. 
  • Defensively, Sanders led all players with 28 digs. 
  • At the net, Servino and Narowdowg had solo blocks, Gale had two assists, and Narodowg and Ashleigh Catlett each had one assist.
  • Maritime posted a 0.028 hitting percentage and had 47 points.

Elms

  • Alysha Izquierdo had a match-high 20 kills. 
  • Jaylen Holman had 37 assists in the win.
  • Alyssa Moore led the Blazers with four aces.
  • Defensively, Moore had 27 digs, Holman tallied 25, and Samantha Haug had 20.
  • At the net, Lilliana Simmons and Angelica Marks had a solo block. Marks and Maiima Mack each had two assisted blocks.
  • Elms had a 0.091 hitting percentage with 54 points.

The Buccaneers host Nichols and Southern Maine on Saturday for a tri-match and the team's home opening games of the season.
