Bucs Beat Bison in Tri-Match Split

BUZZARDS BAY, Mass -- The Bucs volleyball team played its home opener on Saturday in a tri-match against Nichols and Southern Maine. They didn't disappoint, winning their first match against Nichols, 3-1, their first-ever win over the Bison, but fell to the Huskies, 3-0.

 

Match One

The Basics

Final: Buccaneers 3, Bison 1 (25-12, 15-25, 25-18, 25-21)

Records: Maritime 2-5

               Nichols 3-6

 

Inside The Numbers 

Maritime

  • Maliah Servino led all players with 15 kills in the win. Natalie Gale added 10 kills. 
  • Shayla Narodowg delivered 29 assists in the match to lead all players. 
  • On the serve, Narodown had a match-high seven aces, Holly Sanders added four.
  • Defensively, Sanders led all players with 29 digs. 
  • At the net, Servino had two solo blocks and two block assists. 
  • Mia LaurentSydney McCarthy, and Gale all had two block assists.
  • The Bucs had a 0.223 hitting percentage in the match and 61 points.

Nichols

  • Alyssa Morse led the Bison with 11 kills. Kya Burdier added 10 in the loss.
  • Ruby St. Onge led the team in assists with 15.
  • On the serve, Brooke Partridge had four aces.
  • Defensively, Elizabeth Mullen had a team-high 18 digs.
  • At the net, Maille Ianniruberto recorded the only block of the match.
  • Nichols posted a 0.139 hitting percentage and 50 points.

Final: Huskies 3, Buccaneers 0 (25-17, 25-19, 26-24)

Records: Maritime 2-6

               Southern Maine 3-5

 

Inside The Numbers

Maritime

  • Shayla Narodowg led the team with nine kills. Maliah Servino and Natalie Gale each had eight. 
  • Narodowg was the team leader in assists with 22, and aces with four.
  • Defensively, Holly Sanders had 22 digs to lead all players, Narodowg added 15.
  • At the net, Servino had three solo blocks.
  • The Bucs tallied a 0.140 hitting percentage and 42 points.

Southern Maine

  • Ella Koehler and Lizzy Harbester had 10 kills each. 
  • Reese Helisek had a match-high 25 assists. 
  • Koehler and Kylee Eubanks-Hemme each had three aces to lead the Huskies.
  • Defensively, Amelia Beatty had 20 digs, and Helisek totaled 14.
  • At the net, Mariah Eaton and Eubanks-Hemme each had a block assist.
  • Southern Maine had a 0.195 hitting percentage and 49 points.
