How It Happened

After a scoreless first inning, the Buccaneers put two runs on the board in the bottom of the second. Beechin singled in Ramsey, followed by Bouffard bringing in Beechin on a single to right center. Maritime led 2-0 after two.

The third inning was scoreless, and in the fourth, the Bucs scored five times to make the score 7-0. Bouffard struck again with a two-RBI single up the middle. Logiudice brought in Bouffard, then Loughren doubled in Logiudice and Duffy.

In the top of the fifth, the Cadets got on the board, ending Hallisey's no-hitter bid after 4.1 innings. The visitors scored five runs of their own to pull within two runs, 7-5.

The 7-5 score held until the bottom of the seventh when the Buccaneers knocked in four runs to extend the lead back out to six, 11-5. Lougiudice scored the first run of the inning on a wild pitch. Then, Loughren scored on a throwing error by the Cadets. That was followed by a two-run blast to right field by Kaczynski, his third of the season, to make the score 11-5.

The Bucs added much-needed insurance in the bottom of the eighth inning on a Ramsey ground rule double to right that brought in Bouffard and Duffy. Maritime led 13-5 after eight

In the top of the ninth, Norwich refused to go away. They got three runs back on a Franus home run to bring the score to 13-8. Then, Medhurt singled in Sabasteanski to make it a four-run game, 13-9. With the bases loaded, Kevin Ohlsen walked to drive in a run and make it 13-10. With the bases loaded and one out, the Bucs got the Cadets to line out into a double play to end the threat and the game, earning their fifth win of the season, 13-10.
