Loughren Signs with North Adams Steeplecats of the NECBL
BUZZARDS BAY, Mass. — Massachusetts Maritime sophomore catcher Colsen Loughren has signed to play summer baseball with the North Adams SteepleCats of the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL).
Founded in 2002, the SteepleCats compete in the NECBL and play their home games at Joe Wolfe Field in North Adams, Mass. The organization is managed by MCLA head coach Mike Gladu and has reached the NECBL playoffs 13 times, including three appearances in the division finals.
The NECBL, established in 1993, is a 13-team collegiate summer league spanning all six New England states. The NCAA and Major League Baseball-sanctioned wooden bat league features players from all three NCAA divisions and provides high-level competition and exposure to professional scouts.
Loughren joins the SteepleCats following a standout sophomore campaign in which he earned All-MASCAC Second Team honors and was named to the D3baseball.com All-Region Third Team. He batted .360 during the 2026 season with three home runs, six doubles, 23 RBIs and 20 runs scored while posting a .408 on-base percentage and a .573 slugging percentage.
