McCarthy Named MASCAC Baseball Rookie of the Year
WESTFIELD, Mass -- The Massachusetts State Collegiate Athletic Conference announced its major postseason awards and All-Conference teams on Wednesday afternoon. BucBall freshman Aidan McCarthy was voted the conference's Rookie of the Year by the head coaches.
McCarthy played in 28 games for the Buccaneers this season, including all but one conference game for the team. In those 28 games, he bounced between left field and designated hitter in the lineup. At the plate, he recorded 30 hits in those 28 games, posting a .366 batting average. He walked 24 times, helping him to a .527 on-base percentage. Aidan added five doubles, a home run, 28 RBI, 18 runs, and four stolen bases.
The freshman assisted the Bucs in their 20-win season and a MASCAC Playoff appearance in his first season as a Buccaneer.
