Bucs Blaze Past MCLA in Series Opener
WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass -- The Buccaneers opened a conference series with MCLA on Friday afternoon in Western Mass. Thanks to a five-RBI day for Nate Kaczynski and a complete game victory on the mound for Ben Zschau, the Buccaneers took game one of the series, 21-4.

- Nate Kaczynski recorded five hits in the win for the Bucs. Michael Logiudice added three hits, and Jason Bouffard and Ryan Flynn had two. Jake Duffy, Aidan McCarthy, Colsen Loughren, Shane McGuiness, Brayden Ramsey, and Max Dunn all had one hit.
- Kaczynski recorded a home run and a double in the win. Ramsey and Dunn both had doubles in the game.

- Joshua Bissaillon had three hits to lead the Trailblazers offense. Benjamin Jacob and Collin Gevry had two hits. Five other MCLA hitters recorded one hit.
- Clayton Dutfield and Camden Zerbato each had a double in the loss.
- Bissaillon, Jacob Olsen, Gevry, and Nolan Space drove in the four MCLA runs.
- Zerbato scored twice in the game, and Dutifeld and Jacob scored once.
How It Happened
MCLA scored first in the bottom of the first inning to take a 1-0 lead on a Bissaillon single that scored Dutfield.
In the top of the second inning, Maritime tied the game at 1-1 on a wild pitch that scored Ramsey. The Bucs went on to score four runs in the inning, including two on a Kaczynski double that knocked in Duggy and Logiudice, to take a 4-1 lead after two.
The Buccaneers added six runs in the top of the third inning, two on back-to-back doubles by Ramsey and Dunn, another on an MCLA error, then a sacrifice fly from Duffy scored a fourth, and Kaczynski hit a two-run home run to run the score to 10-1 in favor of the Bucs.
Maritime scored another in the top of the fourth to go up 11-1. MCLA answered in the bottom of the fourth, getting their second run on the board, and the Bucs led 11-2.
In the fifth, the Buccaneers' bats exploded for nine runs as they extended their lead to 18 runs, 20-2 through five innings.
The Trailblazers got two runs back in the bottom of the sixth inning to cut the deficit to 16 runs, 20-4.
In the seventh, Ramsey walked with the bases loaded to bring in the Bucs 21st run of the game. MCLA was unable to plate any runs in the bottom of the seventh, and the game ended after seven innings, due to the 10-run rule, and the Bucs won game one of the three-game series, 21-4.
