Buccaneers and AMCATS Play Marathon Game Friday in to Saturday
BUZZARDS BAY, Mass -- The Buccaneers and Anna Maria opened their first-ever conference series on Friday at Maritime. In the bottom of the sixth inning, with the Bucs leading 11-9, the game was halted due to heavy fog. The teams resumed the game Saturday afternoon at Marlborough High School, at the site of the impending conference doubleheader between the teams. A game that was scheduled to go nine innings on Friday went 11 innings and concluded 25.5 hours after it began with the AMCATS coming out on top, 14-13.

Inside The Numbers
Maritime
- Damon White, Nate Kaczynski, and Aidan McCarthy each recorded three hits in the game. Michael Logiudice and Jason Bouffard had two hits apiece. Brayden Ramsey and Eduardo Correia had one hit in the loss.
- Ramsey recorded a triple in the game. McCarthy hit two doubles, and White, Logiudice, and Bouffard added one two-bagger each.
- McCarthy drove in five runs in the game, while Ramsey drove in three. Kevin Heine and Kaczynski knocked in two, and Logiudice had one RBI.

- Batchelder had five RBI in the win. Kolczewski had three, Driscoll added two, and Denison drove in one.
- Denison and Kolczewski scored three times. Three players came in to score twice, and Guardascione and Brayden Wright scored once.
- Kolczewski and Batchelder recorded steals in the win.
How It Happened
Way back on Friday afternoon, the AMCATS scored first in the top of the first inning on a Batchelder single that brought in Kolczewki. The Buccaneers answered in the bottom of the frame on a sacrifice fly by Ramsey, bringing in White to tie the game at 1-1 after one.
In the top of the third, Batchelder hit a grand slam over the left center field fence to put the AMCATS up 5-1 after three innings of play.
In the bottom of the fourth, the Buccaneers answered again. This time, on a ground rule double off the bat of McCarthy that brought in White and Logiudice, and Heine was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to score a third run in the inning and close the gap to one run, 5-4.
In the top of the fifth inning, Driscoll singled in two runs to open the AMC lead back to three runs, 7-4. The Bucs tied the game in the bottom of the fifth inning at 7-7. Kaczynski hit an infield single to score Bouffard, followed by a bases-loaded walk of McCarthy that scored White. Ramsey tied the game for the Bucs on another bases-loaded walk.
In the top of the sixth, Denison doubled to right field, scoring Acuna. Kolczewski hit a sacrifice fly to give the AMCATS a two-run lead, 9-7. In the bottom of the sixth, Logiudice doubled to center field, scoring Bouffard. Then, Kaczynski singled in White, which tied the game at 9-9. McCarthy hit a double to right, bringing in Kaczynski and Logiudice, and with the Buccaneers leading 11-9 in the bottom of the sixth, the game was halted due to fog.
When the teams resumed the game on Saturday in Marlborough, Ramsey immediately tripled to right field, scoring McCarthy and giving the Buccaneers a three-run lead, 12-9. Ramsey then scored on a Heine RBI groundout to shortstop, and the Bucs were up 13-10.
After a scoreless seventh, the AMCATS got within one run in the bottom of the eighth inning. Kolczewski came in to score on a balk, and a Buccaneer error allowed Aylward to score, cutting the Bucs lead to one run, 13-12.
In the top of the ninth, Anna Maria scored the run they needed to tie the game on an RBI single off the bat of Kolczewski. The Bucs failed to walk the game off in the ninth and it went to extra innings with the game tied at 13-13.
In the top of the 11th, Kolczewski struck again, this time with a single through the infield, bringing in Denison to score the go-ahead run. The Bucs went down in order in the bottom of the 11th and the AMCATS took game one of the three-game series, 14-13.
